Breath, Just Breath ♥ (Yoga Teacher Certification #2)

I was thinking last night about my progress with my yoga this last week, and I was feeling kind of discouraged that I hadn't practiced this week. It was at that point that I realized I had been strengthening my practice even though I had not turned on a video. I practiced my breath so much this week. After the classes last weekend I was so relaxed that I fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.
I am the type of person who usually rolls around and tests all my sides before I turn to my back and fall asleep; It is my process. After our first class on Friday night I laid down on my back, and fell right to sleep. I was astonished. My goal for this last week was to practice my yoga before bed in the hopes that I would be able to fall asleep more quickly and effortlessly. As I said, this did not happen, but I did use my breathing to help me fall asleep. Although it was not as successful as actually practicing, it did help. This week I will actually start practicing before bed like I had previously planned. It will help that I am no longer sick and I am not moving this week.... so here we go!

New beginnings... ♥ (Yoga Teacher Certification #1)

This weekend I began a new chapter in my life: the yoga chapter. My Aunt Sylvia is the founder of Bodhi Yoga Center in Provo Utah, and this weekend she started a five month yoga teacher certification.
A few months back, I visited Sylvia because I was seeking help on a final paper for my meditation class in school. While she was helping me come up with some ideas, we got into a deeper talk about yoga, and life, and insight. The teacher training came up in our conversation, and Syl told me that she thought I would really benefit from being involved. Since I am always open to new opportunities, I agreed.
I will admit that I was a little skeptical at first, and maybe even a little worried, too. I had many preconceived notions about yoga and people who do yoga. After all, the only yoga I have ever tried until this weekend was in a gym setting, and I honestly didn't care for it.
After spending the weekend with Syl and the other wonderful women in our group, my worries and skepticism are completely gone. I am excited to start this new journey, and so enthralled with all of the new information I am learning. The amount of new material that I took in this weekend is a little bit over whelming, but I am completely ready to dive in and soak it up.
Writing a blog post once a week is a requirement to become certified, which I am kind of excited about. I have a personal blog that I have enjoyed, but I find it hard to come up with things to write about. I am certain that I will never have a lack of writing material here, because the amount of knowledge to be had in this field is endless!
Needless to say, I have a lot of learning and a lot of practice ahead of me, but I am accepting this challenge with an open mind and and optimistic outlook.
